Dr. Blake Marsden completed his Doctorate of Optometry at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 2012. Throughout his training, he gained considerable experience fitting contact lenses and managing ocular diseases, including glaucoma, at the NSU Eye Care Institute at the Sanford L. Ziff Health Care Center.
Dr. Marsden completed an ocular disease-focused externship at the Eye Centers of South Florida, where he became experienced in ocular post-surgical care following cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgeries. He also completed an externship at Easton Eye Care, gaining experience fitting a variety of contact lenses and managing pre and post-op LASIK surgical care.
During his years at Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Marsden was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honours Society—an organization dedicated to academic excellence and professionalism and a privilege given to those who maintain an academic average of 90% or better.
Dr. Marsden was consistently placed on the university’s Dean’s List for outstanding scholastic academic performance. He currently practices at Bronte Optometry and Erin Mills Optometry in Mississauga.
Before his optometric training, Dr. Marsden completed an Honours Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto. In his spare time, Dr. Marsden enjoys snowboarding, tennis, and travelling and has volunteered for The Kidney Foundation of Canada for over 20 years.
Dr. Kristina Love
Dr. Kristina Love received her Doctor of Optometry in 1995 from the University of Waterloo’s School of Optometry. She has been an integral part of our practice for 20 years now.
Dr. Love is trained in laser vision co-management and fits all types of contact lenses.
Dr. Paul Zaugg
Dr. Paul Zaugg is an optometrist joining our team at Bronte Optometry in 2021. He graduated from McMaster University with an Honours Bachelor of Science specializing in genetics. He then went on to obtain his doctorate in Florida at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in 2012.
During clinical rotations, Dr. Zaugg gained extensive experience in the management of glaucoma and postoperative care at Eye Centers of South Florida in North Miami Beach. He was also trained in pediatric eye care, ocular disease, and specialty contact lens fitting at The Eye Care Institute in Fort Lauderdale and Miami. He is skilled in fitting scleral lenses and LASIK post-surgical care.
Dr. Zaugg enjoys volunteering in the community and has participated in several humanitarian missions to Haiti. In his free time, he likes to go mountain biking and hiking with his family.
Dr. Nell Van Ymeren, Retired
Dr. Van Ymeren received her Bachelor of Science at the University of Waterloo and completed her Doctor of Optometry in 1976 from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry. She received an award of excellence in contact lens fitting upon graduation. Dr. Van Ymeren took a special interest in contact lens fitting as well as children’s vision and vision training. She practiced in Oakville for over 30 years. Her own practice was in West Oakville (Bronte), and she practiced occasionally in Mississauga.
Dr. Van Ymeren was a clinical supervisor of students at the School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo for a number of years. She served on the Children’s Vision Committee of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and was on the Steering Committee of the Ontario Association of Children with Learning Disabilities. She spoke to numerous school and parent-teacher groups, including the Oakville Parent-Child Centre and the Ontario Association of Optometrists seminars.
Dr. Van Ymeren was also trained in laser vision correction and co-management and was on the Advisory Board for the TLC Laser Vision Centers. She pioneered the first gas-permeable and bifocal contact lenses in Canada and fitted all of the latest types of lenses for patients of all ages. She did special testing for children with learning difficulties and does visual motor and perceptual training with children who have difficulties. If problems are found, she provided vision therapy programs for them.
